CRA deadlines that follow from each client's services
Tell Firmdesk what you do for a client. It works out every filing and payment date from the client's year-end, its type and a few answers, and keeps them in step when any of those change.

The services it knows, and when each is due
Counting in months, a month-end stays a month-end: a June 30 year-end has its T2 due December 31.
| Service | Due |
|---|---|
| T2 corporate return | Return 6 months after year-end. Balance 2 months after, or 3 for a CCPC claiming the small business deduction. Instalments at the end of each month or quarter. The Alberta AT1 or Québec CO-17 with the T2. |
| T1 personal return | Return and balance April 30; self-employed people file by June 15 and still pay by April 30. Instalments on the 15th of March, June, September and December. |
| T3 trust return | Return and balance 90 days after the trust's year-end. |
| GST/HST and QST | Monthly or quarterly: a month after each period. Annual: 3 months after year-end, but individuals and sole proprietors with a December 31 year-end file by June 15 and pay by April 30. Annual filers' instalments a month after each fiscal quarter. |
| Payroll remittances | Quarterly and regular remitters: the 15th of the next month. Threshold 1: the 25th for the 1st to 15th, the 10th of the next month for the rest. Threshold 2: 3 working days after the 7th, 14th, 21st and month-end. |
| T4, T4A and T5 slips | The last day of February after the calendar year. |
| T5018 | 6 months after the end of the fiscal or calendar year. |
| T5013 partnership return | March 31 if all partners are individuals, 5 months after year-end if all are corporations, the earlier of the two if mixed. |
| T3010 and T1044 | 6 months after year-end. |
| Bookkeeping, WSIB/WCB, and your own | On the schedule you set: a number of days after each period, the last day of a later month, or a set day of one. |
| Records of Employment | Nothing to schedule: add each one when an employee's earnings stop. |
Firmdesk works out dates from your settings and from CRA and Revenu Québec rules as we understand them. Your firm remains responsible for the deadlines it meets, and Firmdesk doesn't file anything for you.

See the deadlines before you save
Adding a service asks plain questions: when is the balance due, do they pay instalments, is there a provincial return too, who files it. The list beside them shows the deadlines your answers will add.
- Deadlines about 15 months ahead, with more added as the months go by.
- Change a setting, the client's year-end or its type, and its deadlines follow. What's done stays done.
- Services that don't fit the client, such as a T2 for an individual, are greyed out.

Set up all your clients at once
Tick the clients in the list, or take every client matching a filter, such as corporations with a December year-end. Pick their services and answer the questions once.
A preview for every client
Each client's deadlines per service, and why a service is left out: it has it already, it isn't for that type of client, or QST for a client outside Québec.
Each client's province
A T2's provincial return can follow each client's province: the AT1 in Alberta, the CO-17 in Québec.
Your firm's presets
Save your choices as "our corporate default" or "our T1 default", and use them for the next new clients.
One board for every client's deadlines
By week, month or client
Six weeks, six months, or a column per client for the next three months. Or a list, to tick many and mark them done at once.
Filters and saved views
By status, client, client type, team member, type and category. Save a view such as "my T2s due this month" and it's one click away.
Done, with the proof
Mark a deadline done with the date it was filed and the confirmation number. If the portal shows deadlines, the client sees it too.
More than statutory dates
Meetings and deadlines agreed with the client sit beside the CRA's. What a client files itself stays on the board, greyed out, so you can remind them.
Weekends and holidays
When a due date falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the CRA accepts it the next business day. Firmdesk shows both dates, and names the holiday.
The holidays are the ones on the CRA's list, with Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day in place of the Civic Holiday for clients in Québec. Provincial-only holidays such as Family Day are left out on purpose, so a date Firmdesk shows is never later than the real one.
The work behind each deadline
Put a checklist on a service and each of its deadlines gets the same tasks, each a set number of days before the due date.
A step goes to a role on the client's team, such as the preparer or the reviewer, so the right person sees it in My work. The board shows how many of a deadline's tasks are done, and which deadlines are behind.
